Director

Bill has over 20 years of experience of delivering the highest quality of Architectural Projects, particularly in buildings for Education, the Arts and both Public and Private housing. This has included working with historic buildings and in conservation zones and similar sensitive locations.

Currently he is Project Director for the conservation and restoration of Perth Theatre's historic category 'B' listed Edwardian auditorium, a £110m mixed use development in Glasgow City Centre which includes housing, a hotel, retail and new public space and the British Golf Museum in St Andrews, which will be completed in time for the Open this year. He is Director in charge of business development.

Recently completed projects include our Postgraduate Accommodation for the University of Edinburgh which achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating and completed in 2014, our project for the social housing element of the Quartermile project in Edinburgh, Q10 – which created 174 flats with a budget of £23m and was completed in 2013, and a major hotel and office development at Justice Mill Lane in Aberdeen - which was completed in July 2010 and won a number of awards.

Bill joined Richard Murphy Architects in 1996 as Project Architect for Dundee Contemporary Arts which opened to great acclaim early in 1999. This was followed by Stirling Tolbooth in 2002 and our projects for Kirkintilloch Learning Centre, Napier University’s Jack Kilby Computer Centre and the John Muir Birthplace Visitor Centre. He became an Associate in 1999 and a Director in 2007 when the Company incorporated.

Bill teaches on a part time basis in the final year studio at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen and has taught at most of the Scottish Schools of Architecture. He was a member of the RIBA validation panel for 7 years and continues to have a keen interest in Architectural Education.
