Summer 2023

We have been commissioned by the Unex Group to  design student residences in Cambridge. The client approached us after seeing our work for Anglia Ruskin University in Young Street and New Street. That development won Cambridge Building of the Year in 2016. This project envisages about 100 bedrooms and communal facilities. Pre-application discussions with Cambridge planners are currently ongoing. Images shows the courtyard. 

We have been involved with the Maggie’s Centre in Edinburgh since 1994 when Maggie and Charles Jencks commissioned us to convert a disused stable building at the Western General Hospital. Never did we imagine that the movement, number of centres, and indeed the building in Edinburgh, would expand so dramatically. After we opened the very first centre in 1997 an extension followed in 2009 and then a second extension completed in 2022. Now we have completed the smallest project there, a garden pavilion generously funded by the Mickel family. It sits at the end of a beautiful garden designed by Emma Keswick.

Tender returns have been received and these are currently being assessed with the intention for a site start in September this year. Image shows the living room of one of the apartments.
