Now you see it, now you don't, now you do!
A part of Thomas Hamilton’s overall 1820’s composition was the extensive retaining wall to the rear of the school culminating in a substantial belvedere containing the school bell. Extraordinarily, the entire construction has all been completely hidden from view by later buildings constructed in 1885 to the south and by vegetation elsewhere. With the recent demolitions we can see it again for the first time in 140 years. |
