Housing \ Oisin House: Student Housing and Visitor Facilities, Trinity College Campus, Dublin, 2014
The project was submitted in association with Taylor Architects of Castlebar, 2014. Unbuilt
The competition project brief asked for 260-300 student bedrooms to be organised into 8 person apartments with some individual and married student accommodation. A small health centre, sports hall, squash courts and a visitor centre incorporating a new entrance from the north boundary of the campus on Pearse Street. The site is highly restricted and the design proposed a six storey courtyard with two apartments per side with the kitchen/living spaces pushed out into the courtyard to encourage visual contact between apartments. The roof consisted of a "village" of individual student houses with external circulation. A new entrance to the College was set back from Pearse Street and opened into a long double height exhibition hall with adjacent souvenir shop. The hall connected through to the historic College printworks with its Doric portico addressing the campus.
